Patch Park [March Promo 2008] - Netherlands

A fresh sound has arrived, and those seeking surprises on the dancefloor are advised to plug in to Patch Park.
Although a relatively young project hailing from The Netherlands, Patch Park has already landed the accolades and placement of a veteran, landing singles on world-renowned and artist-helmed labels such as Little Mountain Recordings (Sander Kleinenberg), Yoshitoshi (Deep Dish), Audio Therapy (Dave Seaman) and Re*brand (Max Graham) and crafting remixes for the likes of Remy & Roland Klinkenberg, Dubfunk, Montero and Sultan & Ned Shepard. A recent song, “Made In Mayhem,” part of the Pitch Black EP on Yoshitoshi’s Shinichi label, presently sits in the top 10 of the techno charts on leading digital DJ music center Beatport. In fact, all of Patch Park’s releases to date, as well as his side project/collaboration Cyro, have managed an impressive feat of hitting the top 10s in their respective genres.
For the past five years, Patch Park has made music and played at leading clubs and events in Europe and America. Having graced the decks at such hotspots as Amnesia in Ibiza, Godskitchen in Birmingham, Turnmills in London, Space and Mansion in Miami and Melkweg and Dance Valley in Amsterdam, he has played alongside and has garnered the support from world-class DJs like Sasha, John Digweed, Dubfire, Sander Kleinenberg, Desyn Masiello, Sharam, Pete Tong, Robbie Rivera, Joris Voorn, Max Graham, Armin van Buuren and Michel de Hey, to name a few. This unique ability to elicit such a solid, quality response in a short amount of time means that tastemakers are able to hear something different in the music. As it turns out, that difference is audible freedom
Thanks to a significant yet unconventional reinvention of how he makes music—with the lead of an old-school sequencing favorite, Cubase—Patch Park songs are a much more accurate expression of his sonic ideas than ever before. And that’s freedom.
“I’m in love with the program. I live and breathe it, actually,” he laughs. “When I have something in mind, I was never really able to translate it into the song, but it’s really been working for me. I think the whole dynamics of the tracks are better now and it all sounds more fresh.”
Forthcoming releases include singles for Hot Kitchen (“Turn Around”/”Magic Beans”), Little Mountain (“Weekend Teknology”/“Silo” and “Synced”) and Audio Therapy (“Swell,” a collaboration with Özgür Can) and a remix for Oliver Moldan & Patric La Funk’s “Good Fellas.”
It’s an exciting new time that’s full of possibilities. But what hasn’t changed for Patch Park is the primary source of a creative spark.
“For me, the best thing is to have a good night out, or a good weekend, or if I have a good gig,” he says. “That’s my inspiration.”

Ric McClelland aka Scope (Urbantorque)

Scope is Belfast based DJ & Producer Ric McClelland. His Deep & Melodic take on House has been gaining support from the likes of Sander Kleinenberg, Jimpster, Silicone Soul, Fish Go Deep, Nic Fancuilli plus many other DJ's and music lovers since the release of his massive debut ep "Strung Out", earlier this year! With influences such as Kerri Chandler, The Timewriter and Funk D'void, Ric's sound as Scope takes as much from the early 1990's as it does from the present day as he aims to keep his output widely versatile, yet solid and dancefloor friendly!

Consistently busy in the studio, 2007 is set to be a big year for Ric! Clocking up no less than 6 full eps in as many months, remixing Francois Dubois, Milton Jackson, Dave Robertson & Jon Gurd, Steve Mill and Mode Music's Resoul, Collaborating with Nikola Gala and also finding time to start up a new production venture with fellow Belfast DJ Sean Grieve "The Rise Project". All this just about leaves time for DJing and taking the Scope sound out to the clubs!

session with Mike Swells (Rise Afterhours)

below the surface of the dance music industry, a saturation of otherwise unknown djs constantly vie for recognition. the competition is undeniable and often creates schisms among the very people who should be working together to keep the music moving forward. fully aware of this fact, mike swells first emerged on the boston scene as a face in the crowd, supporting house music parties throughout the city. after logging many late nights in clubs and lounges, swells eventually became a familiar fixture of the beantown crew. once he was sure that his commitment to his hometown's edm scene-and the djs behind it-could not be questioned, he started asking friends for deck time. it didn't take long for him to graduate from those early gigs to proper sets at venues throughout the city.
in 2004, mike became a resident at rise, boston's only after-hours club. the pairing was meant to be: mike's personal and musical energy perfectly complemented the positive vibe of this unique nightclub. he regularly spun five-hour sets to the musically discerning community of early-morning revelers, weaving soundscapes that stretched from the dubby depths of downtempo to the undulating intensity of everything else underground. mike's dream of holding court alongside of some of the world's most highly regarded artists-including tom stephan, steve porter, and chus & ceballos-had become a reality at his own home club.
it was inevitable that mike's infectious grooves would radiate to cities beyond the confines of new england. he has rocked the decks at parties from miami's winter music conference to new york city to cleveland to los angeles, sharing the booth with dj's like eric prydz, chris fortier, chris micali, and kenneth thomas. the summer of 2007 saw mike's first international gig, playing for clubbers on the caribbean island of st. maarten. dubbed the labor day music conference, this three day "party in paradise" afforded mike the opportunity to dj along side the crystal method, the duo whos 1997 platinum album "vegas" served as mike's gateway to dance music.
back home mike has continued to develop his nights at rise, playing regularly in both the lounge and the main room. he also maintains two other dj residencies. every friday he hosts a weekly party at om in cambridge, and once a month he plays at the red door in porthmouth, nh. all remaining waking hours are spent working in his studio - the womb from where he nurses original productions, remixes, and edits to dancefloor maturity. mike's first track, "tawdry," was released on slanted black records, followed by his remix of eli wilkie's "d'vibin" on reversible records. mike swells has joined forces with base bookings and 'party in paradise' to bring inspiring dance music to boston and beyond.

session with Williams (Love Triangle Records)

It’s no secret that Skye born William Threlfall, aka Williams, has been luring people onto the dancefloor with his slick productions – many of which are signed to the highly respected, Berlin imprint, Get Physical – for some time, putting him firmly on everyone’s radar and making him Scotland’s hottest, underground techno export. In turning his technical dexterity to the studio – previously he was the keyboard player in the hugely successful, electro-pop act, Mylo – Williams is set to consolidate his talents and sound in 2008.Racking up numerous remixes for super-cool electronic artist’s such as The Knife -(Tiga still holds his remix as his favourite of the year, ‘it saved me emotionally and re-inspired my love of music’), – Mark Romboy, Moby and Robyn – which incidentally made it to number one in the Cool Cuts chart – was something the Get Physical gang obviously spotted at an early stage. Picadilly Circuits / The Arrival was one of the best selling releases on the label and garnered support from Richie Hawtin and MANDY to name but a few, receiving rave reviews worldwide, ‘the overall sound resembles something that might come out of a Thomas Bangalter production’ (Traxsource.com). Watch out for his new track on Get Physical in early 2008. Still not content, Williams also began his own underground label, Love Triangle, which he uses as a platform for his more alternative sounding productions and has struck gold with his last release, The Shivering. Someone once said, ‘In terms of originality and production, this shines in a sea of mediocrity'. His next single - Love On A Real Train, already causing a stir with DJ's like Ewan Pearson, hits the shops on Valentines day, and promises to bring some loving feeling back to dancefloors around the world.Previously, DJing had to take a backseat as touring with Mylo took precedence and Willliams concentrated on his live skills, but as the relentless tour eventually came to an end, he’s happily been able to cement himself firmly on the DJ circuit.Always conscious not to pigeonhole himself, Williams flits between deep techno, jackin’ Chicago house, and the odd party track or three thrown in. He’s honed his own style and sound and after years of misspent youth, stuck with his head in a bassbin at Glasgow’s Sub Club, knowing what the dance-floor needs is something he takes in his stride. Citing his hero’s as the likes of Derrick Carter and Green Velvet – a sound which isn’t to dissimilar to his own – Williams grew up DJing at house parties and even played host to Daft Punk at one memorable after party,Having this year toured in europe as part of the Get Physical 5 years anniversary tour and across the uk at events such as the primo alternative rave-up Bugged Out, Death Disco, Sankeys and Stealth, and being already highly fancied by the Music Press (Mixmag Artist of the Month, IDJ Bubblin' Under, DJ guest reviewer), Williams is definitely someone to keep an eye on both DJ wise and as a producer.Watch this boy, he’s going places.
Checkout jan set 08 (the set flow with lovely twisted classics vocals & trippy melodies will keep on knocking your head all over the set trip...minimal, tech-house it's REAL!!)

Stainless and Aura by Hasan H (NYX Events MGT)

DJs come and go all the time. There are those who act the part, and those who fake it, and then theres Hasan. Well, perhaps it isnt so dramatic, but Hasan is as passionate as they get when it comes to his music. As a high school junior, Hasan inevitably got into DJing after throwing a huge party for his friends (no, his parents still dont know about it). He quickly started playing at private parties until 1999, when he landed his first residency for the Student Night at Champions. Setting off for Purdue University in Indiana in the year 2000, Hasan eventually became the resident DJ for his fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi. He also made frequent visits to Chicago, where he ignited his interest in its rich dance music culture. The legendary Crobar was by far one of the greatest influences on Hasan's view of music and DJing. Returning to Amman (Jordan) in 2003, Hasan quickly entered the scene and scored big with a residency at Shaman, one of Ammans more upscale night spots. He flooded Shamans Blue Room with everything from funky, tribal, and progressive house to his choice cuts of trance and breakbeats. Since late 2004, Hasan has been the resident DJ at Prana, which has quickly become Ammans leading underground dance club. There, Hasan has played alongside Deep Dish, Behrouz, Danny Howells, Hisham Samawi, Sultan, David Tort, Gordon Edge,Barry Gilbey, Robert Owens, Ayah, Fady Ferraye, Andrew k, Eelke Kleijn, Pacha Ibiza residents Sarah Main and Andy B. Recently Hasan was also chosen to play the opening set at various events which hosted dj's such asDesyn Masiello , Omid 16B, Demi and Max Graham all of which have opened his eyes and given him the opportunity to sharpen his skills behind the decks. Thanks to his Thursday night Inspiration sessions, Ammans nightlife was rejuvenated with a regular dose of the latest house, electro & progressive house music.Just recently DJ Hasan left Prana to focus on his own productions as well as a brand new entertainment and events agency (NYX ENTERTAINMENT) which will focus on bringing more dj's into the country , and expose youth to the quality side of Electronic music as well as represent some of the country's top djs. Now, Hasan is keeping up with his music, churning out his own tech-edged material, and spreading his love for music that just happens to be more interesting than the average music channel. Recently he teamed up with greek artists Tim and Andi Vasilos and will be releasing their first release "vogue is out" under the alias "wonderboys" on bug eyed records on may 24th worldwide with more on the way.
